The Rune Journey Collection
Abundance, Wealth, Cattle, Prosperity, Beauty
“Fehu has traditionally been associated with wealth and cattle. The wealth of Fehu is in discovering what has value and importance to us individually. To discover our personal wealth Fehu helps us to soften in lessons of beauty, nurture and nourishment so we can surrender to our sensory experience of the world more deeply within our physical and emotional bodies, to open up and receive.” Duncan White – Dartmoor Rune Lore
"I chose to start my futhark journey around Samhain 2024, at the suggestion of Duncan as this time of year is the optimum time of bounty in nature. A time when the cycle of life plays out as seed, nut and fruit ripen as gifts to the earth all the while holding the birth of the next growing cycle inside, ready to sprout again for next season’s harvest. This time of abundance embodies Fehu energy.
As with all the runes there are places on the moor where you can feel the energy of the rune strongest and connect deeply.
The place or space on the Moor inspiring this piece is called Dartmeet; a short walk along the river where there is a very beautiful dryad tree growing perched at a gentle bend of the river Dart. She is surrounded by Oak, Beech, Birch, Hawthorn and Gorse, water flowing through reeds and over smooth river stones.
On one day I sat with her and as I looked around a cow and calf come to drink at the river’s edge, while black birds bicker in the gorse and thorn. The sun shone on the water all glittery and golden and the trees were adorned with autumn leaves and heavy with seed and nut. Many a spirit had come to bask in the last rays of late afternoon light, smiling on the world of abundance. Even in the rock puddles where the leaves had fallen appeared to be golden ingots, nature’s treasure. In that place at that time, with the dryad tree stretching her limbs and smiling at me I felt the energy of Fehu and basked in the feeling."
